We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Portland, Maine. In this role, you will handle key accounting functions, including payroll, financial analysis, and general ledger management, for a publicly traded company. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the financial health of the organization with a focus on accuracy and efficiency. Responsibilities: • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely and accurate transactions. • Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining the integrity of the general ledger. • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations to verify account balances and resolve discrepancies. • Oversee weekly payroll for approximately 80 employees, ensuring compliance and accuracy. • Track and maintain fixed asset records, including depreciation schedules. • Perform financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and reporting. • Collaborate with internal teams to support audits and ensure regulatory compliance. • Assist in preparing financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders. • Identify areas for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance efficiency.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or a related field. • Proficiency in journal entries and general ledger management. • Strong understanding of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes. • Experience conducting monthly bank reconciliations. • Familiarity with fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules. • Proven ability to manage weekly payroll for medium-sized teams. • Analytical skills to perform financial analysis and reporting. • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
