Accounting Specialist
We are looking for an experienced Accounting Specialist to join a non-profit organization in Palm Desert, California. In this contract position, you will play a pivotal role in managing and maintaining financial operations, including payroll, reconciliations, and reporting. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in accounting and a passion for accuracy and detail.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Provide technical and detail-focused support for financial and accounting activities, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.<br>• Prepare comprehensive financial reports, including year-end statements, budget reports, and contributions to the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.<br>• Review financial documents for accuracy, ensuring proper authorization and compliance with contracts, grants, and relevant regulations.<br>• Perform detailed bank reconciliations, monitor account activities, resolve discrepancies, and prepare cash flow reports.<br>• Complete month-end closing procedures, including balancing accounts, preparing journal entries, and processing budget adjustments.<br>• Maintain and monitor expenditure and budget accounts, making corrections and adjustments as necessary.<br>• Assist in payroll administration, ensuring timely and accurate processing of employee payments.<br>• Conduct billing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions with precision and timeliness.<br>• Verify and validate supporting documentation for financial transactions to ensure proper record-keeping.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or a related field.<br>• Proficiency in accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and billing functions.<br>• Strong skills in account reconciliation and financial reporting.<br>• Demonstrated ability to perform month-end closing processes and maintain accurate financial records.<br>• Familiarity with reviewing contracts, grants, and compliance documentation.<br>• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial calculations.<br>• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
