Staff Accountant
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in O'Fallon, Missouri. This long-term contract position focuses on supporting the Mortgage Groups division within the financial services industry. The ideal candidate is experienced in accounting processes, particularly within mortgage-related activities, and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Handle multiple General Ledger postings, ensuring accurate and timely entries related to mortgage transactions.<br>• Process transactional entries, including revenue transactions, cash postings, and imports for mortgage activities.<br>• Prepare and manage account reconciliations using trial balance tools to ensure financial accuracy.<br>• Conduct research to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and issues.<br>• Provide year-end support, including accruals, adjustments, and reporting.<br>• Collaborate with teams to understand operational workflows and resolve accounting nuances.<br>• Utilize specialized systems and tools to manage loan details and transactional entries effectively.<br>• Assist in managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.<br>• Maintain organized and accurate financial records to support audits and compliance requirements.<br>• Contribute to the development and improvement of accounting processes specific to the mortgage industry.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, with a preference for mortgage or real estate industry experience.<br>• Strong knowledge of escrow processes, accounts receivable collections, VA funding fees, and transactional mortgage entries.<br>• Proficiency in systems like Loan Vision, Microsoft Office, and loan origination tools such as Encompass.<br>• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address accounting issues.<br>• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.<br>• Familiarity with journal entries and General Ledger processes.<br>• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.<br>• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
