Helpline Counselor
<p><strong>Robert Half is partnering with a respected nonprofit organization to hire a compassionate and resourceful Helpline Counselor. This role is vital in providing support, guidance, and referrals to individuals in need, often during moments of crisis. The ideal candidate will have strong listening skills, empathy, and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.</strong></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Answer inbound calls from individuals seeking assistance, information, or crisis support</li><li>Provide emotional support, active listening, and crisis de-escalation when needed</li><li>Assess caller needs and connect them with appropriate community resources and services</li><li>Maintain accurate and confidential records of all interactions in the database</li><li>Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure caller safety and well-being</li><li>Work collaboratively with team members, supervisors, and partner organizations</li><li>Participate in training sessions to stay current with best practices in counseling and resource referrals</li><li>Handle sensitive topics with professionalism, discretion, and cultural sensitivity</li></ul><p><br></p>
<ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field preferred)</li><li>1+ years of experience in a counseling, social services, or nonprofit support role</li><li>Bilingual in Spanish and English strongly preferred</li><li>Strong active listening and communication skills</li><li>Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure or in high-stress situations</li><li>Knowledge of local community resources and support services a plus</li><li>Experience with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques preferred</li><li>Strong computer skills and ability to accurately document interactions</li><li>Compassionate, nonjudgmental, and culturally competent</li><li>Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends if required</li></ul><p><br></p><p><br></p>
