Director of Accounting
We are looking for a dedicated Director of Accounting to oversee the financial operations and reporting for our organization in Memphis, Tennessee. This role requires a strong background in fund accounting, financial audits, and compliance, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all financial records. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional analytical skills and the ability to manage complex accounting functions effectively.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Ensure the accuracy and proper management of all accounts and funds, including donor-restricted, board-designated, and unrestricted funds.<br>• Review and maintain the general ledger, including subsidiaries and supporting documentation.<br>• Oversee and update records related to organizational assets, ensuring proper documentation.<br>• Analyze monthly account schedules for balance sheet accounts to reduce year-end adjustments.<br>• Approve journal entries and chart of accounts while preparing detailed financial reports.<br>• Conduct specialized audit assignments and reconciliations as needed, ensuring accurate year-end trial balances.<br>• Manage retirement plan contributions, ensuring timely funding and resolving discrepancies.<br>• Provide guidance to retirement plan participants and new employees on enrollment and updates.<br>• Coordinate annual financial and retirement plan audits, ensuring timely submission of documentation and addressing inquiries.<br>• Collaborate with leadership to improve financial processes and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Proven experience in fund accounting, particularly within non-profit organizations.<br>• Strong knowledge of month-end close processes and financial reporting.<br>• Expertise in conducting financial audits and ensuring compliance with relevant standards.<br>• Proficiency in managing general ledger systems and preparing detailed financial reports.<br>• Ability to analyze and reconcile complex account schedules.<br>• Familiarity with retirement plan contributions and related compliance requirements.<br>• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.<br>• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred.
