We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join on contract basis in greater Springfield, Massachusetts. This role focuses on managing financial operations and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in month-end processes, account reconciliation, and financial reporting. Hands on saving institution or credit union experience is required. Responsibilities:• Handle month-end closing activities, including preparation and review of journal entries.• Maintain the accuracy of the general ledger and ensure proper documentation of transactions.• Perform detailed account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.• Conduct variance analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement.• Prepare financial reports and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.• Manage accounts payable processes, including invoice review and payment tracking.• Balance daily cash transactions and ensure proper allocation of funds.• Ensure adherence to banking compliance standards and organizational policies.• Utilize accounting software tools such as Oracle and Prolog for efficient financial management..

• Credit Union or Saving Institution experience is a must • Proven experience with month-end close processes and general ledger management.• Proficiency in preparing journal entries and conducting account reconciliations.• Strong knowledge of banking compliance and financial regulations.• Experience with Oracle • Ability to perform variance analysis and generate accurate financial reports.• Familiarity with daily cash balancing and accounts payable procedures.• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.• Strong organizational and communication abilities for team collaboration.
