Controller
<p>We are looking for an experienced Controller to join a plaintiff law firm near Beverly Hills, California and help lead core accounting activities with precision and integrity. In this role, you will partner with leadership to strengthen financial operations, deliver reliable reporting, and support informed business decisions. After the training period of 60-90 days, this will be a hybrid role with 2-3 days WFH. </p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>• Partner with firm leadership to manage essential accounting functions and uphold the accuracy of financial data across the organization.</p><p>• Oversee day-to-day finance activities, including payables, receivables, payroll coordination, bank account reconciliations, and general ledger oversight.</p><p>• Contribute to monthly and annual close activities to support timely completion and dependable financial reporting.</p><p>• Prepare and examine periodic financial statements and related schedules for monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting needs.</p><p>• Reconcile ledger accounts, research variances, and resolve inconsistencies to maintain complete and accurate records.</p><p>• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and broader financial planning efforts to support operational and strategic goals.</p><p>• Track cash position and provide financial insight that helps leadership evaluate business performance and make sound decisions.</p><p>• Maintain adherence to accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal control practices through consistent review and policy support.</p><p>• Work with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners while also supporting process improvements and mentoring accounting team members as needed.</p>
<p>• Previous experience within a law firm is required.</p><p>• 5-7+ years of managing accounting operations within a controller or senior accounting capacity.</p><p>• Strong working knowledge of month-end close procedures, general ledger activity, and financial statement preparation.</p><p>• Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.</p><p>• Solid understanding of financial reporting requirements, internal controls, and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.</p><p>• Ability to analyze financial information, investigate discrepancies, and communicate findings clearly to leadership.</p><p>• Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow monitoring activities.</p><p>• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet reporting deadlines accurately.</p>
