Regional Controller
We are looking for an accomplished Regional Controller to lead financial operations and strengthen accounting discipline for a construction-focused business in Vernon, California. This role will guide accurate reporting, support operational decision-making, and help ensure sound financial controls across projects and departments. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, hands-on leadership experience, and the ability to translate complex financial data into practical business insight.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Lead the day-to-day performance of the accounting function, overseeing payables, receivables, payroll, general ledger activity, and project-related financial records.<br>• Prepare and review financial statements and management reports to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with established accounting standards and company policies.<br>• Partner with operations, project teams, and senior leadership to improve financial procedures, strengthen internal controls, and support informed business decisions.<br>• Drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities, including detailed monitoring of project costs and analysis of budget-to-actual results.<br>• Oversee job cost accounting by tracking contract performance, monitoring cost trends, evaluating profitability, and supporting revenue recognition practices.<br>• Review cash flow activity and working capital needs to help maintain financial stability and support ongoing business operations.<br>• Guide and develop accounting staff through coaching, performance support, and the promotion of consistent best practices across the team.<br>• Help maintain compliance with financial regulations, audit expectations, and internal reporting requirements while upholding a high standard of accuracy and integrity.
<p>• CPA with 15 yrs of construction industry experience and significant accounting leadership experience within construction, civil infrastructure, heavy industrial, or a closely related project-based environment.</p><p>• Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, financial compliance, and core accounting processes across payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.</p><p>• Demonstrated expertise in project accounting, including job costing, cost tracking, change order monitoring, revenue recognition, and margin analysis.</p><p>• Ability to produce reliable month-end close results and deliver clear financial reporting for executive and operational stakeholders.</p><p>• Background in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow oversight, and variance analysis in a multi-department business setting.</p><p>• CPA credential preferred or equivalent level of advanced accounting expertise.</p><p>• Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally, lead teams effectively, and implement process improvements with a practical, solutions-oriented approach.</p>
