Tax Preparer
We are looking for a skilled Tax Preparer to assist individuals and small businesses in managing their federal, state, and local tax obligations. This long-term contract position is based in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and offers an opportunity to work with diverse clients while ensuring compliance with current tax laws. If you have expertise in tax preparation and are detail-oriented, we encourage you to apply.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Prepare and review tax returns for individuals and small businesses, including federal, state, and local filings.<br>• Analyze financial records, income statements, and prior-year returns to ensure accuracy and completeness.<br>• Identify deductions, credits, and strategies to optimize tax savings for clients.<br>• Ensure all tax submissions comply with relevant regulations and state-specific requirements.<br>• Communicate with clients to gather necessary documentation and explain tax-related concepts.<br>• Address basic notices from federal and state tax authorities as required.<br>• Maintain organized and accurate records of client files and supporting documentation.<br>• Stay informed about changes in tax laws and maintain best practices in the industry.<br>• Meet deadlines consistently, particularly during high-demand tax seasons.
• Proven experience in preparing individual and small business tax returns.<br>• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.<br>• Proficiency in using Lacerte Tax Software or similar tax preparation tools.<br>• Excellent analytical skills to review financial records and identify tax-saving opportunities.<br>• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and address their tax-related inquiries.<br>• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance.<br>• Familiarity with responding to tax authority notices.<br>• Commitment to staying updated on changes in tax laws and practices.
