Sr. Accountant
<p>Robert Half Management Resources is recruiting for a Senior Accountant to support our retail client in the Westlake Village area on a 3+ month onsite engagement. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the company’s SG& A and other expense accounting, with responsibilities spanning intercompany, lease, and expense-related accounting. This position is responsible for executing critical aspects of the month-end close process, maintaining key balance sheet reconciliations, and partnering with FP& A and Accounts Payable to ensure coding accuracy and alignment with financial goals. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Accounting, this role collaborates with cross-functional teams including FP& A, tax, and external auditors. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting acumen, attention to detail, and experience in a multi-entity, international environment.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Lead month-end close activities for SG& A and other expense accounting, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all journal entries, reconciliations, and close activities within scope.</li><li>Maintain and reconcile all balance sheet accounts related to SG& A and other expense areas to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting policies.</li><li>Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal controls appropriate for a private company.</li><li>Partner with FP& A and Accounts Payable (AP) to ensure accurate coding of expenses and invoices, aligning with budget/forecast assumptions, proper accounting treatment, and financial planning and reporting requirements.</li><li>Partner with FP& A to analyze SG& A trends and variances, providing meaningful insights to management for decision-making.</li><li>Ensure timely and accurate recording of intercompany transactions, transfer pricing entries, and related elimination journal entries in support of the consolidation process.</li><li>Provide supporting schedules and ensure intercompany and elimination entries are accurate and complete to assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements.</li><li>Coordinate with external auditors for interim and year-end audit requirements, ensuring timely and accurate responses and documentation.</li><li>Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes, reconciliations, and financial reporting systems.</li><li>Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support broader organizational objectives. </li></ul>
<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred. </li><li>5+ years of progressive accounting experience </li><li>Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP. </li><li>Experience with intercompany accounting and elimination processes in a multi-entity environment. </li><li>Familiarity with lease accounting (ASC 842) and equity-related journal entries. </li><li>Strong proficiency with large ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft D365, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle). </li><li>High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with account reconciliation tools such as Blackline is a plus. </li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. </li><li>Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functions. </li><li>Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. </li></ul>
