We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Birmingham, Alabama. This Contract to permanent position offers an excellent opportunity for an individual with experience in accounting and payables to contribute to the financial operations of the organization. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate processing of invoices, resolve discrepancies, and maintain compliance with established policies and procedures. Responsibilities:• Oversee the payables process for assigned market carriers, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.• Act as the primary contact for resolving accounting discrepancies between insurance carriers and the agency.• Reconcile accounts in accordance with internal control standards, ensuring timely and accurate payments to carriers.• Submit all accounts payable invoices for processing and approval.• Manage recurring payables and oversee processes for assigned agencies.• Provide training to agency personnel on proper accounting procedures and practices.• Process vendor payables and submit them to the Accounts Payable department.• Serve as a backup for other Regional Insurance Accountants as needed.

• Associate’s degree or equivalent education and relevant training in accounting. • Minimum of three years of experience in an accounting role. • Previous experience in the insurance industry is preferred. • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and external partners. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other accounting software systems. • Familiarity with accounts payable processes, accrual accounting, and automated clearing house (ACH) transactions. • Knowledge of ERP systems and auditing practices. • Demonstrated ability to handle account coding and financial services tasks efficiently.
