We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team in Birmingham, Michigan. In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing financial transactions, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization. Responsibilities: • Process vendor invoices, verify their accuracy, and ensure timely payments while maintaining detailed vendor records and resolving discrepancies. • Generate client invoices aligned with project agreements, track collections, and follow up on overdue balances to ensure smooth accounts receivable operations. • Record daily transactions in the general ledger, prepare adjusting journal entries, and maintain thorough documentation for all financial activities. • Conduct monthly reconciliations for bank accounts, credit card statements, and expense reports, promptly addressing any discrepancies. • Compile month-end financial reports and schedules for managerial review, ensuring all data is accurate and complete. • Utilize accounting software to manage transactional tasks and create ad hoc financial reports as needed. • Perform variance analysis during the month-end close process and provide detailed explanations for unusual financial activities. • Ensure compliance with internal controls and best practices in all financial operations. • Collaborate with other departments to support project-based billing and maintain accurate time-tracking records.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required. • A minimum of 2–4 years of accounting experience within a service-based industry. • Proficiency in Sage accounting software or similar platforms. • Intermediate Excel skills, including pivot tables and conditional formatting. • Strong analytical abilities and exceptional attention to detail. • Proven ability to handle multiple priorities and adhere to strict deadlines. • Familiarity with time tracking systems and project-based billing is preferred. • Previous experience in marketing, advertising, consulting, or similar industries is advantageous.
