- <p>We are looking for an experienced Controller / Chief Financial Officer to provide senior financial leadership for a nonprofit organization in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This Long-term Contract position will focus on strengthening accounting operations, delivering accurate financial reporting, and supporting executive decision-making with reliable analysis and forecasting. The role also plays a key part in audit readiness, cash flow oversight, and maintaining steady financial operations in a hands-on environment.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>• Direct day-to-day accounting activities, including oversight of the general ledger, account reconciliations, close cycles, and guidance for accounting team members.</p><p>• Produce timely monthly financial packages and board-level reports that clearly communicate organizational performance and key financial trends.</p><p>• Develop and maintain cash flow projections, budget-to-actual reviews, forecasts, and spreadsheet-based financial models to support planning decisions.</p><p>• Lead preparation for the annual audit and serve as the primary financial contact for external auditors throughout the engagement.</p><p>• Strengthen accounts payable operations by improving automated workflow usage, addressing unresolved vendor payment matters, and reinforcing internal controls.</p><p>• Ensure nonprofit accounting practices remain compliant, including proper fund tracking and support for Form 990 preparation.</p><p>• Maintain and troubleshoot Power BI reporting tools while validating underlying financial data for accuracy and consistency.</p><p>• Partner closely with executive leadership to provide financial insight, preserve operational continuity, and support organizational priorities.</p>
