Bookkeeper
We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join our team on a contract basis in Washington, District of Columbia. This role requires expertise in managing day-to-day accounting operations, including financial reporting, payroll, and tax administration. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and the ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Handle full-cycle accounts receivable and accounts payable processes, including preparing monthly invoices and maintaining vendor and customer records.<br>• Reconcile multiple bank accounts and beneficiary sub-accounts, ensuring the accuracy of all transactions.<br>• Prepare quarterly beneficiary reports and other financial documents as requested.<br>• Maintain the general ledger and reconcile all balance sheet accounts, including preparing journal entries as needed.<br>• Manage bi-weekly payroll processes and ensure accurate administration of payroll taxes.<br>• Assist in preparing financial reports for bi-monthly trust and nonprofit meetings, as well as for board presentations.<br>• Oversee the annual budget preparation and audit processes in collaboration with the Executive Director.<br>• Maintain financial document retention files and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.<br>• Set up and maintain vendor accounts, reconcile statements, and resolve discrepancies.<br>• Review expense reports for accuracy, proper coding, and compliance with policies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.<br>• At least 3 years of experience using QuickBooks and proficiency in accounting software.<br>• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).<br>• 3-5 years of full-charge bookkeeping experience, including financial statement preparation.<br>• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.<br>• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.<br>• Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members.<br>• High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
