Staff Accountant
We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Santa Barbara, California. In this role, you will be responsible for managing key financial functions, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and a commitment to delivering accurate financial results.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Prepare and post monthly journal entries with precision and timeliness.<br>• Compile and analyze monthly financial statements to support informed decision-making.<br>• Generate comprehensive financial packages for branch managers and the board of directors.<br>• Conduct research and provide data for monthly financial analysis and reporting.<br>• Maintain high-level review notes for financial statements, ensuring accuracy and relevance.<br>• Oversee banking functions and reconcile daily cash deposits using online banking systems.<br>• Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and provide detailed analyses.<br>• Manage sales tax prepayments and quarterly returns, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.<br>• Prepare detailed reports such as monthly cooperage and distributor payments.<br>• Support external audits by preparing schedules and maintaining fixed asset depreciation systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is required.<br>• At least 5 years of relevant experience in accounting roles.<br>• Proficiency in automated accounting systems and intermediate-level Excel skills.<br>• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to handle complex financial tasks.<br>• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration.<br>• High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.<br>• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities efficiently.<br>• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills to contribute to a positive work environment.
