We are looking for a detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to join our team on a long-term contract basis in San Luis Obispo, California. This role involves overseeing fuel procurement operations, analyzing market trends, and negotiating supplier contracts to secure the best terms. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and play a critical role in ensuring smooth operational logistics.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Manage fuel purchasing operations, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement.<br>• Analyze market trends and pricing to make informed purchasing decisions.<br>• Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.<br>• Coordinate logistics for fuel deliveries to maintain uninterrupted supply.<br>• Collaborate with the Director of Operations to align purchasing strategies with company goals.<br>• Monitor and track fuel inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock.<br>• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.<br>• Prepare and manage purchase orders while ensuring compliance with company policies.<br>• Utilize Excel and other tools to analyze data and generate reports.<br>• Support the transition of responsibilities through effective knowledge transfer during onboarding.

• Proven experience in purchasing or procurement roles, preferably in fuel or related industries.<br>• Strong proficiency in Excel for data analysis and reporting.<br>• Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable terms.<br>• Ability to analyze market trends and make data-driven decisions.<br>• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.<br>• Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and vendors.<br>• Familiarity with purchase orders and procurement processes.<br>• Ability to work onsite Monday to Friday, with occasional on-call availability during weekends.
