Litigation Paralegal
<p>A nationally recognized organization is seeking an experienced Employment Litigation Paralegal to join its in-house legal team on a temporary basis to support an internal transition. This is an urgent backfill need, with interviews taking place this week and a targeted start date the week of 2/23. The legal department handles its own employment litigation and arbitration matters internally and partners closely with business leaders across a national portfolio of consumer brands. The team is seeking a litigation-forward paralegal who can step directly into active employment litigation matters with minimal ramp-up and provide hands-on support throughout the full litigation lifecycle. Strong law firm litigation experience is highly preferred.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Draft various legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings, litigation templates, and memoranda; run tables of contents and authorities; create redline/blackline comparisons of documents; cite check briefs, proofread documents for errors.</li><li>Support workplace investigations by working with internal clients to collect, review, and summarize information and documents.</li><li>Coordinate agency and court filings, including filing of pleadings via electronic filing procedures as mandated and approved by courts.</li><li>Prepare responses to subpoenas, records requests, and government inquiries.</li><li>Assist with preparing written discovery and document production.</li><li>Assemble fact chronologies and key documents.</li><li>Contact outside sources (courts, government agencies, etc.) to obtain public information.</li><li>Conduct factual and legal research, support coordinating fact investigations, and prepare attorneys for depositions, hearings, and trial.</li><li>Provide trial support as needed.</li><li>Maintain and update legal files following Legal Department electronic filing system procedures.</li><li>Assist with administration of Legal Department’s e-billing software, including creation of matters and reviewing and responding to outside counsel inquiries regarding same.</li><li>Review, sort, distribute, and file mail; review and calendar due dates from documents, letters, and other mail received. Answer telephones, record messages, and return calls as necessary.</li><li>Schedule/calendar appointments such as depositions, production of documents, client meetings, trials, court hearings, and appearances.</li><li>Schedule messengers and other vendors for pick-up of documents for filings, deliveries to counsel, and related errands.</li><li>Perform administrative functions, such as preparing check requests for vendor statements, expense reports, and other administrative tasks.</li><li>Provide guidance and support for legal administrative staff as needed.</li></ul><p><br></p>
<p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>3+ years of experience as a legal secretary, project assistant, or paralegal supporting litigators in a law firm environment</li><li>Employment litigation experience strongly preferred</li><li>Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) and Adobe Acrobat Professional; experience with Legal Tracker/Serengeti is a plus</li><li>Familiarity with e-mail scheduling tools in Microsoft Outlook and Teams</li><li>Knowledgeable about state and federal local court rules and e-filing</li><li>Experience with e-filing platforms in state and federal court (e.g., PACER/ECF)</li><li>Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently</li><li>Hybrid Contract-to-Hire (San Francisco-based): Candidates who can commit to working onsite four days per week in downtown San Francisco will be eligible for potential full-time conversion.</li><li>Fully Remote Contract: Candidates requiring a fully remote arrangement are welcome to apply and will be engaged on a strictly contract basis (not eligible for conversion).</li></ul><p> </p>
