Controller
We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team on a long-term contract basis in San Diego, California. In this role, you will partner with a large nonprofit organization to evaluate, implement, and enhance operational processes within the finance department. This position offers an exciting opportunity to drive impactful changes, optimize workflows, and contribute to the organization's financial efficiency.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Analyze and assess existing workflows for reconciliations, month-end close processes, and financial statement preparation.<br>• Identify areas for improvement and automation within current financial operations.<br>• Develop detailed documentation of existing processes to pinpoint inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.<br>• Design and implement updated workflows that streamline operations and enhance productivity.<br>• Configure NetSuite or Oracle systems to support improved financial processes.<br>• Train finance team members on newly implemented processes to ensure smooth adoption.<br>• Validate the effectiveness of new workflows through live reconciliations and month-end close activities.<br>• Resolve operational challenges and optimize workflows to ensure sustainability.<br>• Create comprehensive manuals and provide coaching to support long-term process improvements.<br>• Collaborate closely with stakeholders to manage expectations and drive successful outcomes.
• Extensive experience as a Controller, preferably within large organizations or the nonprofit sector.<br>• Strong proficiency in NetSuite or Oracle systems, including configuration, optimization, and automation.<br>• In-depth knowledge of reconciliations, month-end close processes, and financial statement preparation.<br>• Proven ability to document, audit, and adjust operational workflows for efficiency.<br>• Expertise in process automation and creating sustainable financial solutions.<br>• Excellent communication skills to effectively lead process improvement initiatives and engage stakeholders.<br>• Ability to work onsite in San Diego, California for a minimum of four days per week during the initial phase of the project.<br>• Minimum of 10 years of experience in relevant financial roles.
