Controller
We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations and financial reporting for a growing organization in Illinois. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for a hands-on finance leader who can bring structure, accuracy, and insight to core accounting processes while supporting business decisions. The position will oversee critical close activities, guide a small team, and help strengthen reporting, analysis, and financial controls.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Direct the full monthly close cycle, ensuring timely and accurate completion of reconciliations, journal entries, and period-end reporting.<br>• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll-related accounting, and lease accounting to maintain reliable financial records.<br>• Prepare and review financial statements and management reports, delivering clear visibility into business performance and key trends.<br>• Monitor compliance with debt covenant requirements and produce supporting schedules and reports for internal and external stakeholders.<br>• Lead margin analysis and other financial reviews to identify performance drivers and support operational decision-making.<br>• Evaluate and enhance accounting workflows, controls, and reporting practices to improve efficiency and accuracy.<br>• Manage budgeting support and contribute financial insight to planning activities as needed by leadership.<br>• Supervise, coach, and prioritize work for a team of three accounting professionals.
<p>• 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibility within a controllership or senior accounting function.</p><p>• Strong expertise in monthly close, financial reporting, and general accounting operations.</p><p>• Experience overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and lease accounting.</p><p>• Knowledge of budgeting processes, margin analysis, and debt covenant reporting.</p><p>• Proficiency with NetSuite and comfort working in technology-enabled accounting environments.</p><p>• CPA designation required or strongly preferred, depending on overall experience.</p><p>• Demonstrated ability to lead a small team while improving processes and maintaining high standards of accuracy.</p><p><br></p><p>The salary range for this position is $60/hour to $70/hour.
