Medical Coder
We are looking for a Certified Medical Coder to join our team on a contract basis in Sacramento, California. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring accurate coding and billing for medical services, contributing to the efficiency and compliance of healthcare operations. This position requires an individual with strong attention to detail who can interpret medical documentation and apply standardized coding practices.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Review and analyze medical documents to assign accurate numeric and alphanumeric codes.<br>• Translate patient medical histories and procedures into standardized coding formats.<br>• Prepare and submit insurance claims while ensuring proper documentation and billing accuracy.<br>• Perform audits and coding reviews to maintain compliance with regulations and guidelines.<br>• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to clarify diagnoses or gather additional information.<br>• Provide training and mentorship to less experienced coding staff as needed.<br>• Stay informed about updates in medical coding standards and billing procedures.<br>• Ensure adherence to ethical, legal, and confidentiality requirements in all coding activities.<br>• Utilize coding software and tools effectively to streamline operations.
• Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Coder (CPC) is required.<br>• Proven experience in medical coding and billing processes.<br>• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.<br>• Proficiency in coding software, including 3M and other relevant tools.<br>• Effective communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams.<br>• Exceptional attention to detail and critical thinking abilities.<br>• Familiarity with ICD-10-CM and HCPCS Level II coding guidelines.<br>• Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold meticulous standards.
