Leave of Absence/Ergonomic Specialist
We are looking for a dedicated Leave of Absence/Ergonomic Specialist to join our team in Rochester, New York. In this long-term contract role, you will play a vital part in ensuring compliance with absence management laws, supporting ergonomic safety initiatives, and assisting employees in returning to work. This position is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail and a passion for workplace safety and employee well-being.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Serve as the Ergonomic Specialist, conducting both on-site and virtual assessments to address employee discomfort and minimize injury risks.<br>• Coordinate a network of safety representatives across the organization, including recruitment, recognition, and the implementation of effective communication strategies.<br>• Maintain detailed records of ergonomic concerns and workplace injuries to identify areas for improvement and enhance safety initiatives.<br>• Develop and implement proactive strategies to reduce workplace injuries, absenteeism, and workers’ compensation cases.<br>• Ensure accurate entry and upkeep of employee data in compliance with absence management laws, collaborating with IT as needed to resolve system access issues.<br>• Draft and distribute communications to employees on leave, outlining their rights and responsibilities under applicable laws.<br>• Facilitate return-to-work processes by coordinating with employees and supervisors to ensure appropriate accommodations and placements.<br>• Provide procedural guidance to internal and external partners on leave management, wage verification, and compliance with state and federal regulations.<br>• Generate reports and collaborate with HR and Benefits teams to support employment decisions and program improvements.<br>• Stay informed about legislative changes and industry best practices to ensure ongoing compliance and program enhancement.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear guidance and support to employees and management.<br>• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and database management systems.<br>• Experience with HR administration, including leave management and compliance with state and federal laws.<br>• Familiarity with ergonomic safety practices and workplace injury prevention strategies.<br>• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.<br>• Knowledge of HRIS systems, such as Oracle, and the ability to generate and analyze reports.<br>• Detail-oriented approach to maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.<br>• Background in coordinating safety programs and implementing workplace wellness initiatives.
