We are looking for an experienced Controller to serve in a contract to hire opportunity! In this role, you will serve as the senior financial leader, overseeing all accounting, reporting, and compliance functions for a government entity. This position requires a strategic thinker skilled in governmental accounting and financial management, with a strong focus on sustainability and operational transparency. Responsibilities:• Oversee the organization’s financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and grants management.• Manage general ledger activities, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.• Lead financial reporting and compliance efforts, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met.• Provide expert guidance on governmental accounting practices, rate setting, and working capital management.• Supervise accounting processes for capital assets, leases, and financial reconciliations.• Ensure effective internal controls to safeguard financial integrity and operational efficiency.• Prepare and analyze financial statements to support decision-making and transparency.• Direct month-end and annual close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.• Manage financial system in Oracle PeopleSoft and Cardinal.• Collaborate with stakeholders to maintain financial sustainability and support organizational goals.

• Active CPA license required.• A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management roles.• Strong knowledge of governmental accounting standards, including GASB and US GAAP.• Proficiency in financial systems such as Oracle PeopleSoft or Workday Financial Management.• Demonstrated ability to prepare and analyze financial statements, including audited financials.• Experience with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
