We are looking for a skilled Accounting Manager to join our team on a contract basis in Reston, Virginia. This role is essential in ensuring accurate financial management and reporting during a short-term medical leave. The position requires hands-on expertise in overseeing key accounting functions and providing support to the organization's financial operations. Responsibilities:• Manage the general ledger and ensure accurate postings for financial transactions.• Lead the month-end close process to deliver timely and accurate financial results.• Prepare and review monthly financial statements and reports for internal and stakeholders.• Oversee and approve the work of a staff accountant, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.• Review reconciliations to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.• Record and review journal entries to maintain the integrity of financial data.• Utilize QuickBooks Online to manage day-to-day accounting tasks and reporting requirements.• Respond to ad hoc financial requests and provide analysis as needed to support organizational goals.

• Proven experience in managing month-end close processes and financial reporting. • Strong proficiency in general ledger management and account reconciliation. • Adept at preparing and reviewing journal entries to maintain data accuracy. • Familiarity with QuickBooks Online and its functionalities. • Ability to analyze and produce monthly financial statements with precision. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members. • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
