IT Security Specialist
<p>We are looking for a skilled IT Security Specialist to join our team in Poughkeepsie, New York. This long-term contract position involves designing, implementing, and maintaining security measures to protect organizational networks and sensitive data from cyber threats and unauthorized access. The ideal candidate will play a key role in enhancing security protocols, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating across teams to strengthen the overall cybersecurity program.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>• Design and deploy robust security architectures, including firewalls, access controls, encryption standards, and intrusion detection systems.</p><p>• Monitor and maintain cybersecurity tools, ensuring their continuous availability and timely updates.</p><p>• Manage the remediation of security incidents, vulnerabilities, and system hardening activities.</p><p>• Develop and enforce comprehensive cybersecurity standards and practices to safeguard organizational assets.</p><p>• Collaborate with IT teams, risk management departments, and external security partners to advance cybersecurity initiatives.</p><p>• Participate in internal and external security audits and penetration testing to identify and address security gaps.</p><p>• Align all activities with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.</p><p>• Provide training and guidance on security measures to ensure compliance and promote awareness.</p><p>• Support strategic projects and initiatives while demonstrating professionalism and teamwork.</p><p>• Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality to support operational excellence.</p>
• Associate’s Degree in Cybersecurity is mandatory.<br>• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Security is preferred.<br>• At least 10 years of experience in IT Cybersecurity roles is required.<br>• Minimum of 8 years’ experience specifically as an IT Cybersecurity Engineer is essential.<br>• At least 4 years of experience working within the financial services sector is required.<br>• Familiarity with regulatory and industry standards is a must.<br>• Certifications such as CISSP, SSCP, CompTIA Security+, or ITILv3 Foundation are highly desirable.<br>• Strong knowledge of data privacy, database security, cyber governance, and computer file protection is essential.
