Payroll Specialist
We are looking for a dedicated and meticulous Payroll Specialist to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Portland, Oregon. In this role, you will oversee critical payroll functions for a workforce operating across multiple states, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency. This position offers an opportunity to contribute your expertise in payroll while working in a supportive and collaborative environment.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Accurately input payroll data for employees, ensuring all information is precise and up-to-date.<br>• Process electronic direct deposits and prepare printed checks for applicable employees.<br>• Administer payroll for union and non-union employees, adhering to specific agreements and regulations.<br>• Manage payroll for salaried, hourly, and commissioned employees, including quarterly commission processing.<br>• Ensure compliance with multi-state payroll laws and regulations across three states.<br>• Handle payroll tax filings and maintain compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.<br>• Maintain strict confidentiality and security of employee payroll data.<br>• Utilize downtime to proactively assist with additional tasks or projects as needed.<br>• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient payroll operations.<br>• Stay current on payroll-related policies, laws, and best practices to improve processes.
• Proficiency in Viewpoint Vista payroll software and a basic understanding of Microsoft Excel.<br>• Previous experience managing payroll, including multi-state and union payroll.<br>• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy in all payroll processes.<br>• Ability to follow established procedures while maintaining confidentiality and integrity.<br>• Knowledge of payroll tax regulations and filing requirements.<br>• Problem-solving skills and initiative to identify and address additional tasks during slower periods.<br>• Experience processing payroll for medium-sized employee groups (80-100 employees).<br>• Familiarity with bi-weekly payroll cycles and reconciliation processes.
