Android Developer
We are seeking an Android Engineer Contractor to assist in developing cutting-edge mobile applications for a prestigious, international portfolio of major retail clients. This role offers the opportunity to work with a passionate team committed to solving complex problems, implementing sophisticated design solutions, and delivering high-quality apps. The project duration is from late November through early February. Key Responsibilities: Develop and contribute to native Android tools that minimize duplicate work. Research, experiment, and integrate new Android technologies, while contributing to third-party frameworks. Enhance and maintain functionality for apps used by some of the world's leading retailers. Optimize user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) components to ensure the fastest and smoothest app performance. Provide guidance on Kotlin and Java best practices, organizational standards, and automation strategies. Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions with the mobile development team to advance expertise. Collaborate with large-scale retail clients, API developers, and other stakeholders. Implement secure coding protocols and engage in ongoing security training.
<p>Required Qualifications: </p><p>Experience: 4+ years of detail oriented Android development experience, including expertise in frameworks and the app publishing process. </p><p><br></p><p>Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java; knowledge of Swift is a plus. Programming Knowledge: Sound understanding of object-oriented programming, MVC, and MVVM paradigms. </p><p>API Familiarity: Demonstrable knowledge of HTTP/S protocols, RESTful APIs, and GraphQL. </p><p>UI/UX Standards: Attention to detail and familiarity with Material Design and other app interface standards. </p><p>Google Services: Exposure to Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), Android Pay, and platform-specific testing and configuration processes. </p><p>Collaboration: Demonstrable experience engaging with internal and external stakeholders. </p><p>Tools Knowledge: Familiarity with JitPack, Gradle, Jetpack Compose, and other dependency/package management systems. </p><p>Source Code Management: Proficient in tools like Git. </p><p>Development Processes: Exposure to common Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices, preferably Agile methodologies. </p><p>Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Work Environment: Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, with flexibility to work remotely or travel for client engagements. Preferred Skills: Prior experience with iOS, React Native, or similar tools is a bonus. </p>
