Accounting Leader - AR/AP
We are looking for an experienced and driven Accounting Leader to oversee Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable operations for a large, family-owned company in Petoskey, Michigan. With a clear path to advancement as the Corporate Controller, this role is ideal for professionals seeking long-term career growth.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Lead and manage a team of accounting professionals, ensuring efficient AR/AP operations and team development.<br>• Oversee daily financial processes, including invoicing, collections, vendor payments, and reconciliations.<br>• Ensure the accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of all financial transactions and reporting.<br>• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and maintain strong internal controls.<br>• Collaborate with various departments, including operations and executive leadership, to align financial strategies.<br>• Support month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring timely and accurate completion.<br>• Prepare detailed financial reports and analyses for senior management to aid in decision-making.<br>• Assist in the development and management of budgeting and forecasting processes.<br>• Contribute to system optimization efforts and upgrades to improve overall accounting operations.<br>• Prepare for future career progression into the Corporate Controller role through leadership and strategic contributions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.<br>• Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles in AR/AP.<br>• Strong knowledge of financial operations, internal controls, and compliance standards.<br>• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop accounting teams effectively.<br>• Excellent communication and organizational skills to manage cross-functional collaboration.<br>• Experience working in large company environments is preferred.<br>• High level of integrity and dedication to maintaining excellence in financial management.<br>• Proficiency in month-end close processes, general ledger management, and account reconciliation.
