We are looking for a skilled Cable Technician to join our team in Norfolk, Virginia. This Contract-to-permanent position offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects, including fiber optic installation and troubleshooting. If you have a strong background in fiber splicing and cable systems, we encourage you to apply.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Prepare and splice various types of fiber optic cables, including loose tube and ribbon configurations.<br>• Conduct fiber optic system testing and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.<br>• Install rack mounts and fiber optic enclosures in alignment with customer specifications.<br>• Terminate fiber cables accurately and efficiently.<br>• Perform aerial line work using a bucket truck while adhering to safety and traffic regulations.<br>• Operate specialized fiber equipment such as fusion splicers, fiber light identifiers, and power meters.<br>• Read and interpret fiber maps, prints, and splice logs to execute precise installations.<br>• Audit fiber optic systems and create detailed as-built documentation.<br>• Balance amplifiers and certify nodes to maintain system reliability.<br>• Core and splice coaxial cables as required.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in fiber splicing and installation.<br>• Proficiency in reading and understanding prints and design layouts.<br>• Ability to operate bucket trucks, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively.<br>• Strong understanding of fiber optic networks and related equipment.<br>• Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on varied surfaces for extended periods.<br>• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.<br>• Availability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and flexible hours, including nights and on-call rotations.<br>• Effective communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
