Controller
<p>Our venture capital client is looking for an experienced <strong>firm level Controller</strong> to join their team in <strong>Nashville</strong>, Tennessee. In this <strong>interim</strong> role, you will provide vital financial oversight and operational support for a venture-focused organization. This is NOT a controller role for one of the portfolio companies. It is the Controller for the VC firm. This is a long-term <strong>contract </strong>position that is expected to last through the 2nd quarter of 2026, with the potential for extension.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>• <strong>Manage and review month-end and year-end close</strong> processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.</p><p>• Provide financial support for multiple entities, including active and dormant ones, with a focus on 12-15 highly active entities.</p><p>• Oversee and guide the work of the bookkeeper to maintain consistent and accurate financial records.</p><p>• Facilitate the closing of a fund and assist with potential sale activities for one fund.</p><p>• Prepare and distribute<strong> K-1s, distribution notices, and capital call </strong>documentation.</p><p>• Manage lines of credit and oversee related financial transactions.</p><p>• Document and refine financial processes to improve efficiency and clarity.</p><p>• Collaborate with the venture team to address fund accounting inquiries and provide insights.</p><p>• Support fund reporting and ensure proper compliance with fund management practices.</p>
<p>• Proven experience in month-end and year-end close activities.</p><p>• Strong background in venture capital and fund accounting is absolutely <strong>required</strong>.</p><p>• Expertise in managing fund operations, including reporting, distributions, and capital calls.</p><p>• Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office suite.</p><p>• Ability to handle intercompany accounting for multiple entities.</p><p>• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate within a dynamic, question-driven team environment.</p><p>• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage complex financial structures.</p><p>• Familiarity with documentation and process improvement in accounting practices.</p><p>• CPA designation would be a great addition.</p>
