We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Lombard, Illinois. This role offers an opportunity to work closely with vendor accounts, manage reconciliations, and contribute to process improvement efforts within the accounts payable function. Ideal candidates will bring a strong background in accounting and a proven ability to streamline workflows. Responsibilities:• Manage vendor-provided statements in Excel by creating and updating columns to track the status of account activities.• Review vendor accounts to identify discrepancies and resolve them efficiently.• Process outstanding requests with a focus on accuracy and prioritization.• Collaborate with team members to propose and implement improvements to accounts payable workflows.• Perform account reconciliations to ensure consistency and accuracy across ledgers.• Utilize advanced Excel formulas to analyze and manage financial data effectively.• Maintain compliance with accounting standards while handling general ledger activities.• Provide accurate and timely reporting to support decision-making processes.• Assist in audits and ensure proper documentation for vendor-related transactions.• Communicate effectively with vendors and internal stakeholders to address inquiries and resolve issues. • Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, with a focus on accounts payable and reconciliation. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formula creation and data management. • Strong knowledge of general ledger processes and accounting principles. • Demonstrated ability to resolve discrepancies and manage vendor accounts. • Experience in identifying and implementing process improvements within accounting workflows. • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. • Effective communication skills for interacting with vendors and team members. • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
