Controller
<p>Robert Half is partnering with a well-established, family-owned real estate organization to identify a Controller for a key succession-planning opportunity. This position offers the chance to lead the accounting function for a stable and growing company with a long-tenured team, while helping modernize processes and prepare the organization for its next chapter of growth.</p><p>The company owns and manages approximately 25 properties and is seeking a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys balancing day-to-day accounting responsibilities with process improvement, team leadership, and operational excellence. The current finance leader is planning for retirement and will provide extensive training and knowledge transfer to ensure a smooth transition.</p><p>Position Highlights</p><ul><li>Full-time, permanent Controller opportunity</li><li>Compensation: $140,000-$150,000+ (flexible for the right candidate)</li><li>Bonus eligibility</li><li>Fully onsite with flexibility for occasional remote work as needed</li><li>Monday-Friday schedule, generally 40-45 hours per week</li><li>Long-term opportunity with potential progression into the top finance leadership role</li></ul><p>Key Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Lead all accounting operations for a multi-entity real estate portfolio</li><li>Oversee month-end close, financial reporting, and preparation of property financial statements</li><li>Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities</li><li>Supervise and develop a small accounting team</li><li>Serve as the primary contact for annual audits and auditor relationships</li><li>Ensure accuracy of the general ledger, account reconciliations, and financial reporting</li><li>Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and accounting modernization efforts</li><li>Enhance AP workflows and reduce manual processes where appropriate</li><li>Partner with ownership to support strategic business objectives through accurate financial reporting and</li></ul><p><br></p>
<p>Required Qualifications</p><ul><li>Bachelor&#39;s degree in Accounting or Finance with significant accounting experience</li><li>Prior Controller experience or experience serving as the senior-most accounting leader within an organization</li><li>Real estate or property management accounting experience required</li><li>Strong multi-entity accounting background</li><li>Experience managing accounting operations and supervising staff</li><li>Demonstrated audit management experience</li><li>Hands-on leadership style with a process improvement mindset</li><li>QuickBooks experience</li></ul><p>Preferred Qualifications</p><ul><li>CPA (active or inactive)</li><li>Affordable housing accounting experience</li><li>ERP implementation or system enhancement experience</li><li>Budgeting and forecasting expertise</li><li>Payroll experience, including exposure to iSolved</li></ul><p><br></p>
