We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee accounting and financial reporting for a complex, multi-location agricultural operation based in Johnstown, Colorado. This position combines strategic financial leadership with active involvement in day-to-day accounting, month-end close, and reporting activities. The successful candidate will help strengthen financial accuracy, support operational decision-making, and build efficient processes that scale with the business. Responsibilities: • Direct the full accounting cycle for multi-site operations, ensuring financial records are accurate, complete, and delivered on schedule. • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including review of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements. • Supervise and develop accounting staff while providing hands-on support in core accounting functions when needed. • Partner with operational leaders to provide financial insight, explain performance trends, and support informed business decisions. • Oversee general ledger activity, balance sheet reconciliations, and cash-related account reviews to maintain strong financial controls. • Manage cost accounting processes and analyze operating results across locations to improve visibility into business performance. • Establish and enhance internal controls, reporting practices, and accounting workflows to improve consistency and scalability. • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning efforts by delivering reliable analysis and actionable reporting. • Contribute to specialized accounting activities, including complex reporting matters and derivative or hedge-related accounting when applicable.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required. • 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility and direct execution of accounting work. • Strong background in financial reporting, GAAP-based accounting, cost accounting, and internal control practices. • Experience working in agriculture, livestock, cattle feeding, manufacturing, or other multi-location operating environments is strongly preferred. • Proven ability to manage general ledger activity, reconciliations, and close processes with a high level of accuracy. • Hands-on experience with accounting systems is required; familiarity with Microsoft 365 Business Central is preferred. • Advanced Excel skills and the ability to perform financial analysis that supports operational and executive decision-making. • Exposure to hedge or derivative accounting is an advantage.
