Accounting Manager
We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team in Elmira, New York. This is a long-term contract position where you will play a key role in overseeing financial operations, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards. If you are detail-oriented and excel in managing multiple priorities, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and collaborative environment.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Oversee daily cash reconciliations and manage accounts payable and receivable activities.<br>• Prepare and post journal entries, including intercompany transactions and payroll adjustments.<br>• Ensure compliance with sales tax regulations by coordinating with external vendors and addressing tax notices.<br>• Perform detailed account reconciliations and maintain the accuracy of the general ledger.<br>• Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.<br>• Manage fixed asset accounting, including depreciation schedules and asset tracking.<br>• Assist with cost accounting processes and treasury functions as needed.<br>• Collaborate with internal and external auditors by providing data and preparing schedules for financial reviews.<br>• Respond to inquiries regarding account coding and transaction processing.<br>• Contribute to ongoing accounting projects and provide ad hoc reporting as required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.<br>• At least 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a mid-level role.<br>• Proficiency in general ledger functions, journal entries, and account reconciliations.<br>• Familiarity with cost accounting and treasury operations is a plus.<br>• Advanced skills in Excel and experience with accounting systems such as J.D. Edwards.<br>• Strong organizational abilities with a keen attention to detail.<br>• Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.<br>• Experience in financial statement audits and cash application processes is highly desirable.
