We are looking for an experienced Payroll Systems Consultant to join our client's team on a long-term contract basis. This role is based in Columbus, Ohio, and involves managing and optimizing Workday Payroll configurations and processes. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Payroll Director and HR partners to ensure seamless operations while supporting upgrades, testing, and compliance initiatives. Responsibilities:• Oversee day-to-day Workday Payroll configurations and implement changes as needed.• Collaborate with the Payroll Director to identify and execute opportunities for improvement while ensuring compliance with risk and audit standards.• Triage and resolve payroll-related issues promptly to maintain smooth operations.• Conduct training sessions for business users on payroll processes and assist in developing and updating training materials.• Participate in optimization projects to maximize the functionality of Workday Payroll systems.• Act as the primary liaison for payroll-related work streams, ensuring cross-functional impacts are assessed and mitigated during upgrades and projects.• Partner with HR teams to manage changes affecting payroll, such as annual benefit updates.• Perform thorough testing of payroll system changes in lower environments before implementing them in production.• Assist the Payroll Director with various tasks and projects related to payroll operations.• Maintain a customer-focused approach in all decisions and problem-solving efforts.

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. • A minimum of six years of experience in payroll or related roles. • Hands-on experience with Workday Payroll systems. • At least two years of experience with Workday Payroll configuration and integrations. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Familiarity with payroll checklists, earnings and deductions, pay groups, general ledger costing allocations, and audit processes. • Proven ability to design, gather requirements, and test Workday Payroll solutions. • Advanced knowledge of internal controls and documentation, with control testing experience being a plus.
