<p>We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team in Chicago, Illinois, on a Contract-to-Permanent basis. In this role, you will handle a variety of financial tasks, including maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and supporting payroll operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professionals who are detail-oriented and passionate about accounting.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>• Reconcile bank statements to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.</p><p>• Process payroll for a team of approximately 30 employees, including tracking time off balances, union remittances, pension plans, and various deductions.</p><p>• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions effectively and efficiently.</p><p>• Post and update journal entries to maintain a precise general ledger.</p><p>• Perform month-end closings and prepare necessary financial reports.</p><p>• Track fixed assets and generate depreciation schedules to support accurate reporting.</p><p>• Prepare trial balances to ensure the integrity of financial data.</p><p>• Handle sales and use tax filings across multiple states, monitoring thresholds and compliance requirements.</p><p>• Process W-2 and 1099 forms accurately and in a timely manner.</p><p><br></p><p>The salary range for this position is $29/hr. to $30/hr. Benefits available to contract/temporary professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance. Hired contract/temporary professionals are also eligible to enroll in our company 401(k) plan. Visit roberthalf.gobenefits.net for more information.</p>
