<p>Robert Half has partnered with a manufacturing company in their search for an experienced <strong>Plant Controller</strong> to lead financial operations for a high-volume manufacturing facility in Chattanooga. This role partners closely with plant leadership and corporate finance to drive performance, ensure accurate reporting, and strengthen operational decision-making. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, detail-oriented finance leader with deep <strong>cost accounting</strong>, <strong>inventory management</strong>, and <strong>manufacturing operations</strong> experience.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><p><strong>Financial Leadership & Reporting</strong></p><ul><li>Oversee all plant-level financial activities, including month-end close, financial reporting, variance analysis, and internal controls.</li><li>Deliver accurate and timely P& L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting at the plant level.</li><li>Drive financial forecasting, annual budget development, and long-range planning.</li></ul><p><strong>Cost Accounting & Inventory</strong></p><ul><li>Own standard costing processes, including annual cost roll, BOM review, and labor/overhead rate analysis.</li><li>Monitor and analyze manufacturing variances (PPV, scrap, labor efficiency, absorption, overhead).</li><li>Partner with operations to improve cost visibility and support cost-reduction initiatives.</li><li>Manage all aspects of inventory accounting, including cycle counts, physical inventories, material valuation, and reserve analysis.</li><li>Strengthen inventory accuracy through robust processes, audits, and cross-functional collaboration.</li></ul><p><strong>Operational Support</strong></p><ul><li>Act as the primary financial partner to the Plant Manager and operations leadership.</li><li>Provide actionable insights related to production efficiency, capacity utilization, and KPI performance.</li><li>Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean/Six Sigma, process redesign, and systems optimization.</li><li>Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, GAAP, and SOX/internal control requirements.</li></ul><p><strong>Leadership & Collaboration</strong></p><ul><li>Lead and develop plant-level accounting staff (if applicable).</li><li>Serve as a liaison between plant operations and corporate finance.</li><li>Represent the plant in quarterly business reviews and strategic planning discussions.</li></ul><p><br></p>

<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA strongly preferred.</li><li>7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment.</li><li><strong>Expert-level cost accounting and inventory management experience</strong>—including standard costing, variance analysis, and manufacturing cost structures.</li><li>Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, etc.), and data analytics.</li><li>Ability to communicate financial insights clearly to non-finance stakeholders.</li><li>Demonstrated experience supporting operational leadership and driving performance improvements.</li></ul>
