<p><strong>Robert Half</strong> is actively partnering with an Austin-based client to identify a <strong>Security Engineer (contract).</strong> In this role, you will play a critical part in building, implementing, and maintaining the core security controls that safeguard our cloud platform, internal systems, and end users. You will help strengthen the security posture of a large-scale SaaS environment by developing secure, resilient, and scalable security solutions. As a Security Engineer II, you’ll partner closely with engineering, IT, security operations, and governance teams to apply strong security practices across a modern cloud ecosystem. Your background in cloud security, automation, and foundational security concepts will enable you to design and operate automated controls throughout the environment. This position offers the opportunity to broaden your expertise and directly contribute to protecting millions of users. <strong>This role is onsite in Austin, Tx. </strong></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Configure, maintain, and enhance identity and access guardrails across cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and enterprise identity systems (e.g., Okta).</li><li>Develop and support automated processes for asset visibility, inventory management, and SBOM (Software Bill of Materials) generation.</li><li>Assist in implementing data protection technologies, including encryption, secrets management, and key lifecycle operations.</li><li>Help define secure configurations for containerized workloads (Kubernetes, EKS) and infrastructure-as-code workflows (Terraform).</li><li>Work with engineering and product teams to validate and document system resilience strategies.</li><li>Support compliance and audit activities by collecting evidence and explaining security controls when needed.</li><li>Monitor, investigate, and respond to alerts from security tools and platforms; assist in driving remediation efforts.</li><li>Participate in the evaluation and testing of emerging security solutions and technologies.</li><li>Join the on-call rotation to provide after-hours support as required.</li></ul>

<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.</li><li>2+ years of hands-on experience in a technical security role or IT/operations role with a security emphasis.</li><li>Extensive understanding of core security areas including identity and access management, network security, and cloud/infrastructure security.</li><li>Practical experience working with at least one major cloud provider (AWS strongly preferred).</li><li>Familiarity with identifying common security weaknesses in web applications and APIs, along with experience using tools such as Burp Suite.</li><li>Proficiency in automating security tasks using scripting languages.</li><li>Understanding of identity platforms and concepts, including IdP/IGA/PAM systems, JML processes, and standards such as SAML, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and SCIM.</li><li>Interest in or experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and container orchestration tools (Kubernetes).</li><li>Working knowledge of data protection approaches, including encryption mechanisms and key management.</li><li>Experience with scripting in languages such as Python or Go, and a passion for automation.</li><li>Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.</li></ul><p><strong>Contract Benefit Offerings:</strong></p><ul><li>Healthcare (medical, dental, and vision plans)</li><li>401(k) and retirement plans</li><li>Commuter benefits</li><li>Employee and vendor discounts</li><li>Employee Assistance Program (EAP)</li><li>And many more!</li></ul><p><br></p>
