Data Center Technician
<p>We are looking for a skilled Data Center Technician to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Manassas, Virginia. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and management of data center installations, troubleshooting network issues, and maintaining high standards for equipment and cable installations. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, focusing on both hardware deployments and network connectivity.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>• Oversee the installation and decommissioning of data center equipment, including servers, switches, and routers.</p><p>• Coordinate trade schedules, material orders, and delivery timelines to ensure smooth and high-quality installations.</p><p>• Develop detailed procedures for single-mode fiber installations and ensure compliance with standards.</p><p>• Review and manage service requests daily through the ticketing system to address installation and troubleshooting needs.</p><p>• Perform fiber optic installations, network cable setups, and testing using copper and fiber standards.</p><p>• Extend circuits from demarcation points to client equipment, participating in calls to confirm connectivity.</p><p>• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues using tools like cable analyzers and ensure seamless functionality.</p><p>• Manage the storage, labeling, and documentation of decommissioned equipment using database tools.</p><p>• Implement new patch panel infrastructures and oversee their placement to meet operational requirements.</p><p>• Populate virtual databases with device and connection details to maintain accurate records.</p>
• At least 2 years of experience in data center operations or related roles.<br>• Proficiency in network operations and troubleshooting, including NOC tasks.<br>• Experience with cable assemblies, installations, and fiber optic testing.<br>• Familiarity with networking hardware such as Cisco devices and SAN systems.<br>• Strong knowledge of Microsoft tools for documentation and data management.<br>• Ability to manage ticketing systems and coordinate installation requests effectively.<br>• Capability to supervise equipment installation teams and ensure adherence to standards.<br>• Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues.
