FED and Web Accessibility Specialist
We are looking for an experienced Front End Developer (FED) and Web Accessibility Specialist to join our team in Arlington, Texas. In this role, you will focus on improving web accessibility and optimizing user experience across various platforms. This is a long-term contract position designed to provide impactful solutions to meet compliance standards and best practices in web development.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Generate accessibility reports using tools like SiteImprove and collaborate with departments to address identified issues.<br>• Remediate web accessibility concerns within content management systems such as Sitecore, Drupal, and WordPress.<br>• Apply styling techniques including color contrast adjustments, alt tagging for images, and ARIA tags to enhance website usability.<br>• Partner with business analysts to document unresolved accessibility challenges and create actionable plans.<br>• Ensure compliance with WCAG standards and web accessibility best practices.<br>• Collaborate with the Manager of Web Publishing, content specialists, and business analysts to align project goals.<br>• Conduct regular reviews of university websites to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.<br>• Utilize HTML, CSS, and other front-end technologies to develop and maintain accessible web content.<br>• Stay updated on the latest web accessibility tools and technologies to ensure continuous improvement.<br>• Maintain clear communication with stakeholders to ensure alignment on project objectives.
• Proven experience with content management systems such as Sitecore, Drupal, or WordPress.<br>• Strong understanding of WCAG standards and web accessibility principles.<br>• Proficiency in front-end development technologies including HTML, HTML5, and CSS.<br>• Experience with web accessibility tools such as SiteImprove and other WG3C products.<br>• Ability to style and optimize websites for accessibility, including color contrast, alt text, and ARIA tags.<br>• Familiarity with web content management and development processes.<br>• Effective collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.<br>• Commitment to staying informed on emerging web accessibility trends and practices.
