We are looking for a Design Project Engineer to drive product development initiatives from early concept through release in Simi Valley, California. This position partners with engineering, research, and commercial teams to shape new solutions, refine existing products, and support successful handoff into manufacturing. The ideal candidate combines technical design capability with strong project coordination skills and a practical approach to balancing performance, quality, and cost.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Lead product development efforts by reviewing opportunities, defining technical direction, and moving projects from concept to production readiness.<br>• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to assess new ideas, determine feasibility, and align engineering work with business and market needs.<br>• Investigate competitive products, current technologies, material options, and manufacturing methods to inform design decisions.<br>• Create project roadmaps, engineering specifications, and design proposals, then communicate recommendations clearly to key stakeholders.<br>• Direct prototype builds and validation activities, analyze test results, and implement improvements to address functional or durability concerns.<br>• Guide updates to existing products to enhance usability, performance, manufacturability, or overall cost effectiveness.<br>• Oversee design control documentation and coordinate the transition of finalized designs into production environments.<br>• Manage schedules, priorities, and scope changes across internal contributors and external engineering partners to keep programs on track.<br>• Make sound engineering decisions that support product quality while meeting cost and performance objectives.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mechanical engineering, biotechnology, or a closely related technical discipline.<br>• At least 3 years of experience in research and development or product engineering.<br>• Proficiency with AutoCAD, 3D modeling tools, and other relevant design software.<br>• Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles.<br>• Demonstrated ability to convert design concepts into functional physical products.<br>• Strong project leadership skills with experience coordinating cross-functional teams or outside partners.<br>• Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present technical ideas clearly.<br>• Prior product design experience is preferred.
