Software Engineer
<p>Robert Half is seeking an <strong>Embedded Firmware Engineer</strong> to support the development and bring-up of hardware systems involving USB Type-C and Power Delivery (PD) controllers for a government company based in Bellevue, WA. Apply today!</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Duration:</strong> 6-month contract with possible conversion</p><p><strong>Pay Rate:</strong> $100 - $115/hourly </p><p><strong>Location:</strong> Hybrid in Bellevue — 3 days onsite.</p><p><strong>Schedule: </strong>Monday - Friday 8 to 5pm</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Bring up hardware systems, each of which includes a Power Delivery (PD) controller.</li><li>Develop and maintain <strong>embedded and bare-metal firmware</strong> for PD controllers.</li><li>Develop firmware in <strong>C</strong> for microcontroller-based systems.</li><li>Work directly with hardware during system bring-up and troubleshooting.</li><li>Use debugging equipment such as <strong>multimeters and oscilloscopes</strong> to troubleshoot hardware and firmware issues.</li><li>Review and interpret <strong>electrical schematics</strong> to understand how PD controller pins are mapped and how the hardware, software, and data interact.</li><li>Work with hardware communication buses, including <strong>I2C, SPI, and other low-speed buses</strong>.</li><li>Work with Cypress and Infineon microcontrollers and the associated IDE used to develop and run C code.</li><li>Support USB Type-C and Power Delivery functionality, including understanding the process involved in USB power negotiation.</li><li>Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with Electrical Engineers regarding design and troubleshooting.</li></ul><p><br></p>
<ul><li>Experience developing <strong>embedded and bare-metal firmware</strong>.</li><li>Strong <strong>C programming</strong> experience.</li><li>Hands-on experience debugging hardware using tools such as a <strong>multimeter and oscilloscope</strong>.</li><li>Experience working directly with hardware and PD controllers during system bring-up.</li><li>Ability to read and understand <strong>electrical schematics</strong> and use them to inform firmware development.</li><li>Experience working with hardware communication buses such as <strong>I2C, SPI, and low-speed buses</strong>.</li><li>Experience with <strong>Cypress and/or Infineon MCUs</strong> and the associated development IDE.</li><li>Basic understanding of <strong>USB Type-C and Power Delivery (PD)</strong>, including USB power negotiation.</li><li>Ability to work independently with limited day-to-day direction.</li></ul><p><strong>Nice-to-Have Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Experience with <strong>USB Power Delivery (PD) compliance</strong>.</li><li>Additional hands-on experience with USB Type-C and Power Delivery systems.</li></ul>
