Controller
We are looking for an experienced Controller to support financial operations for a contract assignment based in Sanford, Maine. This Contract position is ideal for a detail oriented individual who can oversee accounting activities, maintain accurate documentation, and produce reliable financial reporting in a construction-focused environment. The role requires strong judgment, hands-on involvement with document management, and the ability to analyze project-related financial performance with accuracy and consistency.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Oversee day-to-day accounting activities and ensure financial records are maintained accurately and in a timely manner.<br>• Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules to provide clear visibility into organizational and project performance.<br>• Review monthly financial results, investigate variances, and communicate key findings to relevant stakeholders.<br>• Track percentage-of-completion accounting for construction-related work and help maintain compliance with reporting standards.<br>• Manage construction accounting processes, including the organization and verification of project financial documentation.<br>• Coordinate document control activities by compiling, organizing, and maintaining financial and operational records.<br>• Handle high-volume document scanning and filing to support accurate record retention and easy document retrieval.<br>• Assist with the review and consolidation of scanned and compiled documents to ensure completeness and audit readiness.
• At least 5 years of experience in controllership, accounting, or finance roles with increasing responsibility.<br>• Demonstrated experience preparing financial statements and supporting month-end reporting activities.<br>• Strong understanding of monthly variance analysis and the ability to identify financial trends or discrepancies.<br>• Background in construction accounting, including familiarity with percentage-of-completion methodology.<br>• Experience with document control, document scanning, and the organization of high-volume records.<br>• High attention to detail with the ability to compile and maintain accurate financial documentation.<br>• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills in a deadline-driven environment.
