<p><strong>Controller (Fully Remote – Pacific Time)</strong></p><p><br></p><p>We’re partnering with an SF based boutique law firm to hire a <strong>Controller</strong> to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and support overall financial management. This role manages a Billing Specialist and partners closely with attorneys and operations leadership.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Oversee invoicing, retainers, and accrual estimates</li><li>Manage AR/AP cycles, collections, and reconciliations</li><li>Handle payroll (ADP), GL, and month-end close</li><li>Prepare financial reporting (weekly/monthly/annual)</li><li>Manage IOLTA accounts, cash flow, and banking</li><li>Support Clio and QuickBooks workflows</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>10+ years law firm accounting experience</li><li>Strong knowledge of legal billing + IOLTA (required)</li><li>Proficiency in QuickBooks and Clio</li><li>Detail-oriented, independent, strong communicator</li></ul><p><strong>Details</strong></p><ul><li>Fully remote (U.S.), Pacific hours (9–6)</li></ul><p><br></p>
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or comparable experience in finance or accounting.<br>• At least 10 years of experience in a Controller or similar senior accounting role within a law firm environment.<br>• Strong command of month-end close, general ledger management, journal entries, and account reconciliations.<br>• Experience with legal billing workflows, accounts receivable management, and trust accounting practices.<br>• Proficiency with accounting and billing platforms, with QuickBooks and Clio strongly preferred.<br>• Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing deadlines and work independently in a remote setting aligned to Pacific Time hours.<br>• Excellent attention to detail, organizational ability, and communication skills when working with clients and internal stakeholders.
