We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Richmond, Virginia. In this Contract-to-permanent position, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations within our retail food store industry. This role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to maintain precise records while adhering to internal controls. Responsibilities:• Reconcile bank accounts, ledgers, and financial statements to ensure accuracy.• Review and validate invoices for completeness and proper coding.• Monitor accounts payable processes to ensure timely and accurate transaction handling.• Maintain thorough and organized transaction records in compliance with internal controls.• Analyze financial data to identify variances and propose resolutions as needed.• Compile statistical information and develop procedures to enhance operational efficiency.• Prepare and distribute financial reports based on organizational requirements.• Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and support.• Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the accounts payable function.

• Proven experience in accounts payable operations, including invoice coding and account reconciliation. • Proficiency in Automated Clearing House (ACH) processes and check runs. • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting. • Ability to work with precision and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. • Solid understanding of accounting principles and internal control practices. • Strong analytical skills to assess financial data and resolve discrepancies. • Excellent organizational skills to maintain accurate records and meet deadlines. • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and external auditors.
