Access Control Technician
<p>About the Role</p><p>Our client, a large nonprofit organization, is hiring an <strong>Access Control Technician</strong> to own their physical security systems across facilities in 13 western states. This is a hands-on role — you&#39;ll be the person who owns the access control environment end to end, from configuration and troubleshooting to verifying that vendor installs were done right.</p><p><br></p><p>If you&#39;ve been doing access control work for an integrator and want to own a system instead of rotating between customers, this is that move.</p><p><br></p><p>What You&#39;ll Do</p><ul><li>Configure, administer, and maintain access control systems (Avigilon and Verkada), plus video surveillance, intercom, and alarm systems</li><li>Work hands-on with Mercury controller boards — wiring, connections, and how they tie into the software side</li><li>Troubleshoot and verify vendor installations; direct low-voltage contractors on proper connections</li><li>Take over and integrate existing/legacy systems with new hardware — this isn&#39;t all greenfield work</li><li>Serve as the escalation point for access control tickets and support issues</li><li>Build custom system reports and audit system operation</li><li>Write technical documentation, standards, and procedures</li><li>Train IT support staff and end users on badge creation and access management</li><li>Participate in site surveys and design input for new installations</li><li>Travel regionally (roughly once a month) to support multi-site operations</li></ul><p>What You Bring</p><p><strong>Required:</strong></p><ul><li>Hands-on experience with <strong>Avigilon access control</strong> (ACM, Unity, or equivalent)</li><li>Experience with <strong>Mercury controller boards</strong> — wiring, configuration, and integration</li><li>Strong low-voltage troubleshooting skills — you understand how the physical layer connects to the software</li><li>Familiarity with <strong>RS-485</strong> and serial device communication</li><li>Ability to work with existing/legacy hardware, not just new installs</li><li>3+ years in access control, electronic security, or physical security systems</li><li>Bachelor&#39;s degree OR 5+ years of technical field experience</li></ul><p><strong>Nice to have:</strong></p><ul><li>Verkada access control and camera experience</li><li>Familiarity with assigning permissions in Active Directory or Entra ID (you do NOT need to be an AD administrator)</li><li>Experience with 2N intercom or Ocularis</li><li>Technical documentation writing experience</li></ul><p><br></p>
