Controller
<p>Tyler Houk (Practice Director) with Robert Half is looking for an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function for an agriculture organization based in Hanford, California. This role will oversee financial reporting, guide the monthly close cycle, and deliver meaningful analysis that supports business decisions. The Controller will also strengthen internal controls, mentor a small accounting team, and help improve reporting processes and system efficiency across the finance operation.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>• Direct the company’s core accounting activities, including ledger oversight, payables, receivables, payroll coordination, fixed asset tracking, and period-end close management.</p><p>• Produce and evaluate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring accurate presentation and alignment with applicable accounting standards.</p><p>• Interpret financial performance results, identify notable patterns, and communicate actionable insights to leadership.</p><p>• Manage the full monthly close process by reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for timely and reliable reporting.</p><p>• Oversee accrual-based accounting to ensure revenue and expenses are recorded in the appropriate reporting periods and the general ledger remains accurate.</p><p>• Lead, coach, and prioritize the work of two accounting team members while encouraging accountability and ongoing development.</p><p>• Strengthen accounting policies, internal controls, and risk management practices while coordinating audit support and assisting with tax compliance activities.</p><p>• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning, and partner with department leaders to improve financial discipline and operational performance.</p>
<p>• At least 7 years of progressive accounting or controllership experience.</p><p>• Strong background in month-end close and accrual-based accounting environments.</p><p>• Demonstrated ability to prepare and review financial statements with a solid understanding of US GAAP.</p><p>• Advanced knowledge of general ledger management, reconciliations, and financial reporting processes.</p><p>• Experience leading or mentoring accounting staff and managing team priorities effectively.</p><p>• Proven ability to analyze financial data and provide clear recommendations to business leadership.</p><p><br></p><p>For confidential consideration apply directly or reach out to Tyler Houk on LinkedIn!</p>
