Interim CFO
<p>We are looking for an Interim CFO to provide senior financial guidance for an organization based in Chico, California. This Long-term Contract opportunity will play a central role in shaping financial direction, supporting executive decision-making, and maintaining strong fiscal stewardship across the organization. The position will oversee core finance operations, ensure accurate reporting and compliance, and help align financial planning with broader organizational objectives.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>• Partner with executive leaders and governing stakeholders to develop financial strategies that support organizational priorities and long-range planning.</p><p>• Direct accounting operations, budgeting cycles, forecasting activities, and cash management processes to maintain financial stability and visibility.</p><p>• Prepare and deliver timely financial reports, analyses, and recommendations that inform leadership decisions and operational planning.</p><p>• Lead audit preparation and serve as the primary finance contact for external auditors, ensuring organized documentation and efficient coordination.</p><p>• Maintain compliance with nonprofit accounting practices, grant conditions, and applicable federal and state financial regulations.</p><p>• Oversee financial risk management activities and evaluate fiscal performance through detailed operational and ad hoc analysis.</p><p>• Guide financial planning and analysis efforts, including annual planning, performance tracking, and complex modeling to support resource allocation.</p><p>• Supervise, mentor, and develop finance staff while promoting a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.</p>
• 15+ years of progressive experience in controllership, finance leadership, or a closely related accounting role.<br>• Strong expertise in accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow oversight, and financial reporting.<br>• Demonstrated background in financial planning and analysis, including annual financial planning and complex analytical work.<br>• Experience supporting executive leadership and board-level stakeholders with strategic financial insight and recommendations.<br>• Knowledge of nonprofit financial standards, grant administration, and federal and state regulatory compliance requirements.<br>• Proven ability to lead finance operations, manage risk, and improve financial processes in a complex organization.<br>• Strong leadership skills with experience coaching and developing high-performing finance teams.
