Intermediate Accountant
<p>We are looking for an Intermediate Accountant to join a growing mining organization in Toronto, Ontario on a Long-term Contract basis. This opportunity is well suited to someone who enjoys working in a lean environment where they can take ownership of day-to-day accounting, support reporting needs, and contribute across a range of finance and administrative priorities. The role offers flexible part-time hours of approximately 15 to 20 hours per week, with hybrid work available following initial in-office training. This contract is expected to run for 6 months, with the possibility of extending or moving into a permanent position.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>• Manage core accounting activities, including accounts payable processing, cash monitoring, general ledger maintenance, and account reconciliations.</p><p>• Prepare supporting schedules and draft financial statements to assist monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting requirements.</p><p>• Coordinate audit and review support by gathering documentation, resolving information gaps, and responding to requests from external reviewers.</p><p>• Assist with capital markets and financing-related accounting tasks within a publicly oriented business environment.</p><p>• Provide dependable support in areas that fall outside standard accounting duties, including administrative coordination and business-related follow-up items.</p><p>• Help maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks Online and contribute to future improvements in accounting processes and systems.</p><p>• Work closely with finance leadership and external service providers to ensure reporting obligations and operational needs are completed effectively.</p><p>• Contribute analysis and ad hoc reporting that supports decision-making for management and board-level matters.</p>
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience in an intermediate or senior-level accounting capacity.<br>• Hands-on experience with accounts payable, reconciliations, general ledger activities, and financial statement preparation.<br>• Practical knowledge of audit support processes, including preparing schedules and assembling backup documentation for quarterly and annual reviews.<br>• Proficiency with accounting software, with prior experience using QuickBooks Online strongly preferred.<br>• Strong sense of accountability and the ability to work independently in a small team setting with limited oversight.<br>• Strong communication skills and the confidence to interact effectively with internal leaders and external partners.<br>• Progress toward a CPA designation, ACCA membership, or equivalent accounting training is considered an asset.
