An AI Engineer designs, develops and implements artificial intelligence solutions that help organizations solve business challenges, improve operational efficiency and enhance decision-making. They build AI-powered applications, intelligent automation systems, machine learning solutions, intelligent agents, AI assistants and retrieval-based systems while ensuring solutions are reliable, scalable, secure and maintainable.

Working closely with software developers, data teams, product leaders and business stakeholders, AI Engineers help organizations adopt emerging technologies and transform business processes through innovative AI solutions.

Typical senior ai engineer duties:

Design, develop and implement AI solutions that address business needs, improve user experiences and deliver measurable outcomes.

Build and support AI-powered applications, intelligent workflows and automation solutions using modern artificial intelligence technologies.

Develop and enhance AI capabilities, including large language models (LLMs), AI assistants, intelligent agents, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems and machine learning applications.

Integrate internal and external systems, APIs, databases and data sources into AI workflows and applications.

Develop, test and maintain reliable software solutions using modern programming languages and software engineering practices.

Support the deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement of AI systems to improve accuracy, performance and reliability.

Work with cloud-based AI platforms and services to develop scalable AI applications and support production environments.

Collaborate with software developers, data professionals, product teams and business stakeholders to identify opportunities for AI adoption and process improvement.

Apply best practices related to AI development, software engineering, data security and responsible AI implementation.

Evaluate emerging AI technologies, tools and frameworks to identify opportunities for innovation and improved business capabilities.

Maintain organized development workflows, documentation and project tracking processes to support successful AI initiatives.
