AI/BI Consultant job description

An AI/BI Consultant connects business objectives with artificial intelligence, data and technology solutions to help organizations design, deliver and improve AI-powered products and services. They analyze business needs, translate requirements into actionable technical documentation, assess workflows and support collaboration between business stakeholders, product teams, data professionals and technology teams.

Working closely with product managers, software developers, data scientists, business leaders and external partners, AI/BI Consultants help ensure AI and data-driven solutions align with user needs, operational goals and market opportunities while delivering business value.

Typical AI/BI consultant duties:

Act as a business liaison for AI and data-driven products by developing an understanding of product features, workflows, user needs and business objectives.

Gather, analyze and document business and functional requirements, including user stories, process flows, workflow documentation and product specifications.

Collaborate with product managers and technical teams to prioritize requirements, manage product backlogs and ensure solutions align with business and technical goals.

Analyze business processes, data flows and system integrations to support the development and implementation of AI and machine learning solutions.

Review product issues, investigate data-related concerns, analyze system behaviour and collaborate with technical teams to support issue resolution.

Develop business-focused test scenarios, support user acceptance testing and assist with functional testing to ensure reliable product releases.

Translate complex concepts related to artificial intelligence, machine learning, generative AI and data solutions into clear information for business stakeholders and end users.

Perform data analysis, conduct basic data queries and use insights to support decision-making, identify trends and resolve product or data-related issues.

Monitor AI technology trends, market developments and competing solutions to identify opportunities for product improvement and innovation.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, data science, marketing and external partners, to support successful delivery of AI initiatives.

Support Agile and iterative product development processes by tracking requirements, dependencies, timelines and delivery progress.

Maintain clear communication and documentation across technical and business teams to ensure alignment throughout the product lifecycle.
